Loud noise triggers alert at Windham High School

Police, fire officials find nothing unusual in search

WINDHAM, N.H. —

Windham High School was placed on alert Monday in response to a loud bang.

Windham police said school staff placed the school on "shelter in place" status after a loud bang was heard about 10:30 a.m.

Police conducted a sweep of the building and found nothing unusual. Fire officials also checked the building and didn't find anything wrong, officials said.

The school returned to normal operations shortly after. Police said the source of the noise was a student who yelled Bang! at the top of his lungs. He has been suspended for causing a bomb scare.
